Architectural Reviewer

The position involves the review of plans, specifications, and related construction documents, and the writing of a descriptive report. The work involves a variety of project types and building sizes.  The reviewer will determine each project’s:

  • Quality of design and appropriateness of materials
  • General compliance with national and/or state building codes
  • Adequacy of the proposed construction schedules
  • Status of the state of completion of the drawings, specs, certifications, and permits

The firm performs no design work and the Architectural Reviewer will be writing reports following established company formats in Microsoft Word. The Architectural Reviewer will be one of a number of professionals on JLL’s Merritt & Harris team to work on a project.  The successful candidate will be personable and a very strong communicator and team player.  Additionally, they will have a strong work ethic, and a good (and appropriate) sense of humor to help them navigate the challenges surrounding a project while keeping morale high.  We look for individuals who can work through difficult conversations and have all parties feeling motivated afterward about an appropriate course of action.

 

Requirements


Education and Experience:

  • Degree in architecture (preferably), engineering or construction technology
  • Minimum 5-years experience in reviewing construction documents

 

Skills and Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of plans, specs, contracts, budgets, change orders & construction schedules
  • Excellent oral and written skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel
