Construction Cost Analyst

The hire will perform Cost Analyses, visit project sites on occasion, and attend meetings if needed.

The Cost Analyst will perform both up-front Construction Budget Analyses and full Construction Cost Estimates for a variety of project types, scopes, and uses.  This includes the analysis of new and renovation work, estimates of various scopes of work, evaluation of replacement costs and insurable values, and other estimating as needed. Assignments typically involve the cost estimation of projects in the schematic, design development, and construction drawing phases.  The Cost Analyst will provide a written report describing the basis of the cost estimates.

The hire will interface directly with their clients and developers, and prepare reports. The hire will be one of a number of professionals on the Merritt & Harris team to work on a project.  The successful candidate must be personable, a very strong communicator and team player.  Additionally, they must have a strong work ethic, and a good (and appropriate) sense of humor to help them navigate the challenges surrounding a project while keeping morale high.  We look for individuals who can work through difficult conversations and have all parties feeling motivated afterward about an appropriate course of action.

 

Requirements


Education and Experience:

  • College degree in architecture, engineering or construction management
  • Minimum 5-10 years of construction estimating and field experience

 

Skills and Abilities:

  • Familiarity with the construction trades, codes and standards
  • Working knowledge of plans and specifications, requisition draw requests, contracts, budgets, change orders and construction schedules
  • Excellent oral and written skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Blue Beam
