James Mako is a Senior Vice President in the Project and Development Services division of JLL. He performs construction monitoring and property condition assessments for new construction, renovation projects, and property due diligence. Mr. Mako’s extensive construction monitoring and property condition assessment work includes detailed review of construction work in place, requisition reviews, site surveys, and evaluation of building components. He joined JLL in 2016.
Mr. Mako came to JLL from Merritt & Harris (M&H), where he was the branch manager for the Florida office that served the Southeast region as well as the Caribbean. His previous experience in general contracting, engineering design, construction management, and owner representation, is valuable in his present focus of work. In his time with M&H he has worked on hundreds of projects including sports stadiums, hotels, resorts, high rise buildings, mid and low rise buildings, residential condominiums, residential rental projects, malls, retail centers, historic renovations, along with many office buildings and mixed use developments. Mr. Mako, a well-respected professional engineer and construction manager in the industry by all clients, is versatile in providing construction and engineering analysis while representing the best interest of the client. As a branch manager, he has empowered the office staff to reach out for more responsibility and growth while providing excellence in their work and service. Mr. Mako is a LEED accredited professional and is active in the LEED community.
Mr. Mako received a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Florida Atlantic University. He is a registered professional engineer in the State of Florida and a LEED accredited professional. He is a licensed certified general contractor in the State of Florida. Mr. Mako also provides pro bono design services to charity organizations.
